Systematic review showed that the preferred strategy for detecting hereditary haemochromatosis in practice is DNA testing in conjunction with testing iron parameters – true either when there is a clear clinical indication of suspicion of being at risk for haemochromatosis because of biochemical criteria or when there is a familial risk for hereditary haemochromatosis
